Chapter 1259
noveldrama
The wedding hall was a wreck.
Wesley slapped Theodore hard.
Cynthia jumped up in fright and was about to step forward, but Sydney beat her to it.
"What are you doing?" Sydney stood in front of Theodore. "Are you crazy?"
"Theodore Spencer, just look at what you've done!" Wesley spat. "I can close one eye to your philandering ways, but you've indirectly caused your grandma's death! If you hadn't brought that woman home, my mom wouldn't have died! You fool!"
Wesley had nowhere else to vent his frustrations and could only take it out on Theodore.
Theodore took a few steps back and almost collapsed on the ground, looking as though he had all his energy sucked out of him. He had no words to refute his father.
"Enough, Wesley Spencer!" Sydney yelled. "What right do you have to yell at Theodore? You're a philanderer yourself!"
"My philandering didn't cause my mom's death!" Wesley yanked his tie off, threw it on the ground, and started sobbing loudly. "My mom's dead!" Theodore's head was buzzing, and he instinctively started looking for something.
"Rose..."
But as he looked around him, he realized that Rosalie was gone.
"Rose, where is she?"
"She left even before the police came," Sydney said.
"I need to go find her. I need to find her!"
Theodore ran out like a madman.
Suddenly, a gunshot sounded in the hall.
Wesley yelled, "Syd!"
Theodore turned around and saw Sydney lying on the floor in a pool of blood.
Wesley rushed forward and pulled her into his arms. He covered her wound, which was bleeding profusely with a hand, and looked around.
"There's a shooter around! There's a shooter around!" Wesley yelled. "Help, help!"
"Mom!" Theodore rushed forward and hauled Sydney into his arms before all of them ran out of the hall.
Theodore and Aurora's wedding that went up in flames ended just like that.
Aurora was nabbed by the police as a suspect of murder.
Sydney was shot by a gunman, badly wounded, and under emergency treatment in a hospital.
The doctors operated on her for eight whole hours.
They barely managed to save
Sydney's life, and she ended up in a coma. No one knew when she would wake up, and she was now hooked to a breathing machine in the
intensive care unit.
Wesley sat dejectedly on the floor, leaning against the wall, his face ghastly pale.
Theodore approached him and handed him a bottle of water. "Dad, drink some water."
Wesley looked up at his son and took the bottle from his hand. "Theo, how did things turn out this way? Who would want to kill your mom?"
"I have no clue. I've sent someone to investigate the scene, and no one was found to be suspicious. The police are on it, too."
Wesley suddenly chuckled.
Theodore sat by his side, his face haggard and dull. "What are you laughing at?"
"What in the world did we father and son get ourselves into? Haha, what a joke. Are all the men in the Spencer family cursed, doomed to suffer our entire tives? We lost our wives.lost my mother, and you might, too. Why is this happening to us?"
Theodore smiled, a bitter one that resembled that on Wesley's face. "I don't know, either. I just keep feeling like my life is under someone else's control."
Wesley sighed. "I'm sorry about what I said earlier. I know I shouldn't have vented my frustrations on you.'
"You weren't wrong. My philandering ways did end up causing Grandma's death," Theodore said.
"Have you contacted Rose?" Wesley said, changing the subject.
Theodore shook his head. "I wanted to go find her, but since Mom is injured, I've been in the hospital all this while."
"Go find her."
"But I want to be with Mom."
"I'll be here. There's nothing you can
do by being here, anyway. Go find Rose and apologize to her. No matter what, you've got to tell her that you know you were wrong. What more, something like this happened to your mom and I'm worried that the culprit might harm Rose, too. This gunman might be targeting our family."
Theodore stood up as shock registered on his face. "I'll go find her, then."
Wesley nodded. "Go ahead."
