The Tycoon's Deepest Repentance (Sophia and Ryan)

Deepest Repentance 5

Chapter

Outside the operating room, my family and friends rushed to the hospital as soon as they heard the news.

They all tried to contact Ryan.

"Ryan, I don't care what happened between you and my sister, but you need to come to St. Mary's Hospital immediately. She's about to give birth!" Ethan shouted into the phone. To everyone's shock, it wasn't Ryan who answered..

it was Linda.

"Sweetheart, someone's calling you," Linda's voice rang out.

Ryan snatched the phone, glaring at it suspiciously, still convinced I was playing games with him.

"Sophia, what kind of stunt are you pulling now? If you want to die, go somewhere else and don't come back!"

Linda let out a sharp scream, and Ryan immediately dropped the phone to hold her tightly.

"Don't worry, babe. I'm here," he whispered, completely ignoring the panicked voices on the other end of the call.

Those who overheard were furious.

"How can this man still call himself human? His wife is in critical condition during childbirth, and he's off having a romantic evening with another woman!" "This is disgusting. He deserves to be exposed for what he is."

On the operating table, I could faintly hear the hushed conversations of the doctors and the steady beeping of machines.

For reasons I couldn't understand, memories of the past surged back to me.

Pain gripped my chest so tightly it felt hard to breathe.

My hands clenched into fists as tears streamed down my face.

I suddenly remembered a summer years ago.. when I was just twenty. I cried just as bitterly then.

That year, I had poured everything into my graduation project, sacrificing sleep for weeks. But just before the submission, someone deliberately destroyed it.

It felt like my future was ruined. Those responsible faced no consequences.

One night, I sat alone in a park, drowning my sorrows in cheap beer.

"Excuse me? Are you okay?"

A hesitant voice startled me, and I screamed in fear.

The stranger chuckled.

"Wow, scaredy-cat! What are you doing here drinking alone at this hour? I'm your senior. It's not safe for you to be out here and I'll stay with you." That was how I met Ryan.

During those tough times, his encouragement helped me rebuild my project from scratch.

Without telling me, he also confronted those who had sabotaged my work, ending up with serious injuries and a school penalty that almost got him expelled.

I fell for him hard. One day, while visiting him in the hospital, I shyly kissed him.

He kissed me back, fiercely and passionately.

Together, we started from nothing.

We lived in a leaky apartment and counted every penny to make ends meet.

I quietly used my family's connections to secure an investment for his business, and I watched him climb the ladder of success.

Our love deepened over time. He indulged my small tempers, and I made sure his daily life ran smoothly.

But later, I learned something that shattered my world.

The night we met, Ryan had just broken up with Linda, who had left him because he was a penniless nobody. Years later, when she saw his success, Linda came crawling back and demanding a second chance.

Not only did Ryan take her back, but she even carried his child.

And my six years of unwavering devotion crumbled like dust.

Tears blurred my vision as I drifted between moments of consciousness.

But I wasn't ready to die. I wanted to live especially for my baby.

My child already had an irresponsible father; they couldn't lose their mother too.

That desperate thought kept me clinging on until I heard the cry of a newborn echoing in the operating room.

"My baby?" I whispered weakly, barely audible.

"Congratulations, ma'am. You have a healthy baby boy!"

When I woke up, my mother was at my side, clutching my hand tightly.

Her eyes were swollen with tears, and they fell freely as she looked at me.

"My sweet girl, you've been through so much," she sobbed, pulling me into a hug.

"Where's my baby, Mom?" I asked, my voice hoarse.

"Here he is. He's perfectly fine," she reassured me.

Ethan approached, awkwardly holding the baby in his arms.

Despite his inexperience, his expression was full of care and protectiveness.

When I saw my son's tiny face, my heart softened.

I reached out to touch his cheek gently with my finger.

Ethan's tone turned serious.

"Sophia, do you know what the doctors said? They told me it's a miracle you survived. That man left you in a flood while you were in labor. You nearly died. What are you going to do?"

I kissed my son and, without hesitation, replied "I'll make sure my child grows up in a loving environment. Ryan doesn't deserve to be a father. With his mistress pregnant, I'll leave with my baby and cut ties with him forever." Third POV Meanwhile, Ryan arrived at a business meeting, confused by the strange and disdainful looks from his colleagues...

What's with these people? he thought, brushing off their stares as he took his seat.

A female executive, unable to contain her frustration, finally spoke up.

"Mr. Ryan, while this meeting is important, don't you think you should be elsewhere right now?"

Ryan, confident as ever, replied, "This meeting is the most important thing to me right now."

The murmurs in the room grew louder.

"How can someone so heartless be trusted?"

"His wife built his career while he took all the credit. Now look at him."

Ryan's face darkened as he realized the murmurs were about him.

Finally, the same executive snapped.noveldrama

"Your wife was in the hospital, fighting for her life while giving birth, and you were off with another woman! And now you come here with lipstick on your shirt as if nothing happened?"

Ryan froze, his smile vanishing.

"What?" he whispered.

The executive's voice was filled with disgust.

"We all heard about how you abandoned her in a flood during labor. You mean to say you didn't?"
